Mays Greenhouse
Mays Greenhouse has been locally owned and operated since 1965, when Marshall and Emma May began selling geraniums from the porch of their family home. What started as a small, seasonal venture has grown into a beloved Bloomington institution, serving the community year-round while staying true to its roots. Known for our dedication to quality plants and products, we are proud to be home to one of Indiana’s largest selections of native and perennial plants—as well as one of the area’s most extensive collections of houseplants. Our knowledgeable and passionate staff are always eager to share their expertise, helping gardeners of all levels bring their landscapes to life. More than just a greenhouse, Mays has become a trusted part of Bloomington’s gardening tradition—a one-stop shop where generations of customers have found inspiration, guidance, and everything they need to grow.

Most of our hiring is in February and March for full-time seasonal workers. We do hire some part-time seasonal employees, but we prefer full time so that we can teach you as much as possible. Experience is a plus, but is not necessary. Occasionally, we do hire year-round full-time employees when a position becomes available. Positions available in the spring are cashiers, seasonal growers, stockers, retail sales, and support services. If you love plants and the outdoors, this could be a great experience for you!
