Wicker and Plastic Baskets-
Wicker types are lined with plastic with drain holes in the plastic. The best way to check for watering is to stick your finger down about an inch and a half to see if it is moist, otherwise you can learn to gage the weight of your basket to get an estimate on how much water is in the soil. This may take a few tries to learn the basket's average wieght.
Sun Combinations require at least six hours of sun to continue to bloom properly. We use plants that don't have to be dead-headed, but late in the season a trim will help them.
Fertilizing- A well balanced fertilizer once every two weeks should be fine. We add Osmocote (a time release fertilizer) fertilizer in all our baskets when we plant them. As the season progresses and the plants get more root bound you may need to up the fertilizing to once a week. You will know when because you will be watering the basket more as the plant requires more water the larger it gets. Another way is to break the fertilizer down to 1/4 stremgth and use it every time you water.
Moss Baskets- The easiest way to check watering on Moss baskets is to touch the bottom of the basket and if it is moist and cool, it doesn't need water, but if it is dry to the touch It needs water.
