If you prefer not to do that, we normally have water meters available. There are no set rules for watering because plants are living growing things. Their needs will change over time and as their conditions change. The thing plants need most is observation. Watch how the conditions around it affect it and adjust your watering accordingly. The more you know your plant the better you will be at caring for it.

Did you know that it was a myth that watering in the heat of the day will scorch plants? We water when the plants need it, regardless of the time. Waiting until it cools off can do more damage if the plants are suffering. Early morning watering is best. If possible, avoid watering in the evening, as this can promote fungus and diseases to develop on the wet leaves.
