Growing Vegetables in Containers
Every two weeks leach the soil (water deeply until water runs out through the drain holes) to prevent build-up of salts in your soil. Check your containers daily for watering. If the soil is dry 1/2 an inch below the top, it's time to water. When watering, try to keep the leaves dry by watering under the foliage, this will help prevent disease. During the hot months of summer, you may have to water twice a day. To help retain moisture, you can add up to 1 inch of mulch.
